My Peloton Review:

Riding a spin bike is an aquired taste. The position of your hands, legs and rear all play a part in getting a successful workout. I started spinning when I was in the Army. Spinning provided me with a low impact form of exercise while increasing my cardiac input. Oftentimes I would take a class during my lunch break or on the weekends.

Back to square one

During my first postpartum journey I was able to join a mommy and baby fitness class. I enjoyed the workouts and the friendships I made while participating in the program. I would eventually move on to exercising at a local fitness center. Once again I found a love for spinning, however, it wasn’t easy. I would eventually take a spin class around 2-3 times a week. However, this time things were different. Now 80lbs on my frame spinning wasn’t what I was accustomed to. It was hard, painful and challenging. Overtime I was able to get a good workout on the spin bike.

Peloton Purchase

Once baby number two came going to the gym got harder and the weather didn’t permit us to exercise outdoors. I decided to get a peloton to remedy that problem. I enjoyed being able to take classes on my schedule and I found the instructors to be motivating.

The company that delivered my bike provided white glove service. They did an awesome job on assembling the product in addition to explaining to me how to use it. The bike is sturdy yet easy to adjust for different riders. Luckily my husband and I are around the same height so our bike doesn’t get adjust it often. The screen tilts to accommodate different writing styles. The handlebars has a few different grips. Different instructors have suggestions on where hands should be placed during a particular ride. While the seat is an important part of the bike it still takes me a while to get accustomed to the pain associated with getting back on the saddle. After a couple rides however, all pain dissipates. Being uncomfortable is just part of spinning as a whole. I’ve heard wearing padded bike pants provides a comfortable writing experience. Since I don’t ride long-distance I don’t personally have a pair, my husband does and wears them often. The cleats required to pedal are the LOOK Delta clip-in style. There is an option to change the cleat on any brand spinning shoe or you can purchase a shoe from Peloton. I have the shoe from Peloton and I really like them I typically wear a wide width and shoes but the peloton spin shoe fits my foot very well and provides the support needed to get a work out. Whereas my husband has a brand of spinning shoes for his road bike that he will change out the cleat to be able to ride the peloton.

Cost, Subscription and Value

As time went on the company has added more programs to their platform. I really like trying new workouts in the comfort of my home. There is a monthly subscription fee. When not riding the bike I’ve been able to put my subscription on pause. Although not inexpensive I feel like the Peloton is worth the money.
