Butcherbox Review
During the holiday season I was looking for a better way to purchase meat. Typically I will purchase meat from the farmers market during the spring and summer months. However, during the winter months the farmers market is closed. Buying in bulk and from the clearance section has always been my go to for saving money on groceries. After getting rancid meat and items with freezer burn; I decided I needed to change where I purchased meat from. I wanted to visit our local butcher shop with hopes of getting fresh cuts for a reasonable price. Their hours aren’t conducive to my schedule and I can’t fathom taking 3 kids there on a weekly basis.
After searching the internet I found butcherbox. I was extremely hesitant to purchase meat on a subscription. Would we enjoy the meat? Is the price points within our budget? Do they take returns? I had so many questions! After contemplating, analyzing and researching I decided to give butcherbox a chance. The company frequently has sales, codes and they even offer a members only section. The members only section allows customers to purchase items that aren’t typically available for a subscription. Last month we got delicious corned beef just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!
Butcherbox offers 100% grass-fed beef, free range organic chicken and more delivered directly to your door! We also enjoy the humanely raised pork and wild caught seafood.

You choose when you want your order to arrive. Every 2,4,8 or 8 weeks. You can even skip shipments!
Butcherbox does a great job notifying their customers when the box ships and important delivery information. This is great because it allows me to put the items away before they defrost.
They ship the meat with dry ice. The contents will arrive frozen and should be stored in the freezer when you receive them.
I like that the meat comes prepackage, frozen and with a inventory label on the inside of the box. Overall the prices are comparable to what you would find at the butchers with the convenience of having it delivered to your doorstep.
Tips:
•To defrost your meat, I found this method works best. Place frozen meat in a Ziploc bag, close. Submerged in water until meat is defrost.
•I save the inventory label from the inside of the box and mark off what we’ve eaten. This allows me to see what we still have in the freezer.
•Stock up when butcherbox has flash sales and use this link to get free ground beef for life. That means you get 2 pounds of grass-fed, grass-finished ground beef in every box until you cancel AND with my link you will save $30 on your first purchase.
